Rania Elwani is not only a former Olympic swimmer, senator and member of Al Ahly club’s board of directors. She is also an experienced and skilled obstetrician.

Rania Elwani is an obstetrician, member of the board of directors for Al Ahly sports club and an Egyptian senator. She is widely considered to be the most well-known Arabian athlete who maintains professional careers in the sports and medical fields alike. Dr. Rania Elwani (born 14 October 1977)[1] is a former professional swimmer, holding African and Olympic records. She competed in Egypt’s name at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics.

In 2004, she became a member of the International Olympic Committee.[1] As of 2010 she is also a member of the Athlete Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).[2]

She attended and swam for the USA’s Southern Methodist University from 1997-1999.

She is a member of the ‘Champions for Peace’ club, a group of more than 90 famous elite created by Peace and Sport, a Monaco-based international organization placed under the High Patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II. This group of top level champions, wish to make sport a tool for dialogue and social cohesion.
